Capricorn - the goat. The tenth astrological sign of the zodiac

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac. It gets it’s name from the constellation Capricornus, but due to the precession of the equinoxes it’s no longer in alignment with it. Capricorn is ruled by the Sun. If your birthday falls between December 21 and January 20, your astrological sign is Capricorn.

Capricorn is a feminine / introverted or negative sign. This implies a sense of caution and a more reserved facet of the Capricorn’s life. They also tend to be sensitive and somewhat distant.

It’s also an Earth sign, which means that it’s associated with a realistic and practical approach to things, while maintaining a strong sense of stability within their lives.

As one of the four cardinal signs, Capricorn signals a change. This change takes the form of autumn to winter in the northern hemisphere, and spring to summer in the southern hemisphere.

In Greek mythology, Capricorn was thought to be the goat that provided milk or ambrosia to Zeus when he was a baby. To show his gratitude, Zeus placed the goat in the sky which became the constellation Capricornus.

People that are born under the Capricorn sign tend to be very practical and hard working individuals. Ambition and persistence are a couple of their hallmark traits. They’re rational, disciplined, and career driven individuals that take a very serious, yet somewhat overly focused approach to their careers. They tend to be in positions of authority, where responsibility and strength is a requirement. It’s best to not stand in the way of a Capricorn and their goals since they’re very competent at what they choose to do.

Some typical career choices for the Capricorn include anything that involves a position of authority. Or anything that requires a methodical approach to things. Lawyers, government officials, managers, politicians, engineers, doctors, and teachers are a few great matches for a Capricorn.

Some famous Capricorns include Howard Hughes, Anwar Sadat, Mao Tse Tung, Louis Pasteur, J. Edgar Hoover, Barry Goldwater, J.R.R. Tolkein, Walter Mondale, Elvis Presley, Richard Nixon, Muhammad Ali, and Dolly Parton to name a few.

Scorpio – The eighth astrological sign of the zodiac

Scorpio - the scorpion. The eighth astrological sign of the zodiac

Scorpio - the scorpion. The eighth astrological sign of the zodiac

Scorpio, also known as the scorpion, is the eighth sign of the zodiac. If your birthday is between November 16 – December 15, then your sign is Scorpio. Like most of the other signs, Scorpio is no longer in alignment with the constellation that it’s based upon. This is due to what’s known as the precession of the equinoxes.

As a water sign, Scorpio is considered a negative or feminine / introverted sign, and as such is thought to be very insightful and sensitive. They are also known to possess a very vivid imagination and are quite intuitive. The downside to this is that they can be rigid, or inflexible in their views and beliefs. It’s also one of the four fixed signs along with Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius

Scorpio gets its name from the constellation Scorpius which is the Latin word for scorpion. In the sky it resembles the tail of a scorpion.

According to Greek mythology, the constellation got it’s name when Hera, the wife and sister of Zeus, sent a scorpion to kill Orion the hunter. This appears to be at odds though with the story of how Orion the constellation was named. In that version, Orion is killed by the scorpion and sent to the heavens.

Scorpio was originally ruled by Mars. But since the discovery of the planet Pluto, it has been considered to be ruled by Pluto.

As the eighth sign, Scorpio has some notable associations – birth and death, relationships, and all things related to the occult and psychic matters. An interesting thing to note is the relationship it has with three different animals – the scorpion, the snake, and the phoenix. With these associations come different strengths and powers that are directly related to each of the individual animals. Personal strength, intimidation, and power are three of the most commonly cited ones.

People that fall under the Scorpio sign are often very powerful and determined. They’re frequently intense and ambitious, yet at the same time can be very calm and reserved in the most extreme situations. Scorpios are also very sexual individuals that are filled with passion, yet they can remain quite loyal and devoted.

Career choices for a Scorpio include almost anything that requires a deep analytical mindset. Scientists and researchers, police detectives, and investigators. Other good fits are almost anything in the medical field including therapists and psychologists.

Some famous Scorpios include Albert Camus, Bill Gates, Carl Sagan, Condoleezza Rice, Indira Gandhi, John Adams, Jonas Salk, Joseph Goebbels, Marie Curie, Pablo Picasso, and Teddy Roosevelt to name a few

Virgo, the Virgin. The sixth astrological sign of the zodiac

Virgo, commonly known as the virgin, is the sixth astrological sign of the zodiac. If your birthday falls between August 23 to September 22, then your sign is Virgo.

Like most of the other signs, Virgo is no longer in line with the constellation of the same name due to the precession of the equinoxes. Virgo is also an Earth sign, meaning that Virgos can be very stable and rational. They’re also hard working and realistic individuals.

Virgo is a negative introverted feminine sign. It’s also one of the mutable signs which means that it straddles two seasons. Because of this duality, Virgos tend to be versatile and adaptable and are very good with change.

Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, and interestingly is the only female that’s used in the zodiac.

From Greek mythology, the constellation Virgo comes from the the virgin daughter of Zeus and Themis. Her name was Astrea, and she was known as the goddess of justice until she became so disillusioned and disgusted with the ways of mankind that she returned to the heavens.

Virgos are typically very analytical people, with great insight and reasoning skills. They tend to be very precise and methodical, paying close attention to the most minute details. They’re highly intelligent, and are often very clever and witty. They strive for perfection in most of their endeavors. In social situations, Virgos are very refined. Politeness and good manners are a hallmark of the Virgo.

Good career choices for Virgos are those that require attention to detail and are methodical in their pursuit. Some great occupations for them are scientists, doctors, technicians, teachers, and lawyers.

Famous Virgos include Lyndon Johnson, Leo Tolstoy, Prince Albert, Richard Gere, Alan Dershowitz, William H. Taft, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Stephen King, and Yasser Arafat to name a few
