Written by psychiclineadmin on November 26, 2008
If your birthday falls between June 22 – July 23, your astrological sign is Cancer, or the crab. Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac and is said to be ruled by the moon. Like other astrological signs, it’s no longer associated with the constellation of the same name due to the precession of the equinoxes.
It is one of the six even numbered feminine or negative signs of the zodiac. Because of this, Cancers tend to be more introverted. It’s also a water sign and one of the cardinal signs. This implies that the cancer is often a person with dynamic people with leadership skills that often initiate things. Alternatively, a Cancer can often be rude, selfish, stubborn, and demanding.
The constellation Cancer got it’s name from Greek Mythology. In the 12 labors or Hercules, when Hercules himself was fighting the multi-headed Hydra, his nemesis Hera sent a crab to distract him. The crab heroically bit Hercules on the toe, but was soon crushed as Hercules stepped on him. In honor of the crab’s valiant, yet inconsequential effort, the gods named a constellation after him. Since the crab lost, the constellation has no bright stars in it.
On the plus side, Cancers are typically warm, sympathetic, loving and generous individuals that exhibit a cautious and protective demeanor. They’re resourceful, loyal, intuitive, and often times generous to a fault. THey tend to be more conservative individuals with a deep sense of sentimentality and patriotism. They’re kind, sincere, and often very romantic. On the negative side, they can be gloomy and moody. In order to achieve what they want, they can often be very devious. Their indecisive and insecure nature can often be the cause of their downfall.
Jobs that are well suited for Cancers are those that involve giving care; nursing, counselors, social workers, and those that involve working with children. Cancers are also great at making money and do well in the financial services sector.
Some famous Cancers are – Ann Landers and Abigail VanBuren, Thurgood Marshall, Princess Diana, Tom Cruise, Henry Thoreau, Gerald Ford, George Orwell, and O.J. Simpson to name a few Tags: astrology, cancer, crab, feminine, greek mythology, introverted, negative sign, water sign, zodiac
